The Ram offense kicked off the season with a balanced and electrifying attack, defeating the Polytechnic Parrots 54-0 at Ram Stadium Friday Night.
The season opener was full of big plays in all facets of the game. The Rams had 3 passing touchdowns for over 40 yards and several big running plays, including at 97 yard TD dash from Jordan Johnson.
The defense started off the year solid with a shut out, only allowing 150 total yards and 5 first downs.
The first quarter was highlighted with 3 Touchdowns. The first score was a 6 yard TD run from Jordan Johnson. The Rams would follow that score with a 16 yard pass to the end zone from Brogan Sims to Jaidun Fisher. The final score of the quarter was capped off with a 59 yard seam route from Sims to Trent Yowell for a TD. The Rams led 19-0 at the end of the 1st Quarter.
The 2nd quarter continued to highlight the balance of the Ram offense notching 2 more passing and rushing TDs. The first score of the quarter was a 50 yard route to Jaidun Fisher for a TD. The following drive was highlighted by a huge 97 yard run from Jordan Johnson after a big forced turnover. The run was 1 yard shy of the MWHS School record. Jordan Johnson would score once more on a 21 yard run the next drive. The Rams finished off the 1st half with another passing TD from Sims to Jordan Johnson for 44 yards.
The second half featured another score in the 3rd quarter with an 11 yard run from Prestyn Ramirez and a converted 2-pt conversion pass from Javon Johnson to Matthew Lewis.
The final score of the game was Mineral Wells 54 Polytechnic 0.
